Moon Geun Young Biography
Moon Geun Young is a South Korean actress who is called the nation’s little sister. She was born on May 6, 1987 in her hometown in Gwangju, South Korea. She began her debut at 12 as a model and started her acting career through a television drama series entitled Burnt Rice Teacher and Seven Potatoes in 1999. In the next year she played the child character of Choi Eun Seo in a very popular drama: Autumn in My Heart. Later, in 2003 Geun Young starred a horror movie A Tale of Two Sisters and in 2004 she became the lead female actor in a romantic comedy movie My Little Bride. She gained popularity through her role in those movies and drama series.
In 2008, Moon Geun Young won the Daesang (Grand Prize) award for her role in the drama series Painter of the Wind at 2008 SBS Drama Award and she also became the youngest recipient of that most prestigious award. Through her role in that historical drama, she also won Best TV Actress at 2008 Grimae Awards and 45th Baeksang Arts Awards in 2009. The drama itself won numerous awards.
Up until recently, Moon Geun Young has been starring 6 movies, 11 drama series, one stage play, and various commercial films. Throughout her acting career she has won 22 awards including Daesang, Best Actress, and Best Actress for TV, Best New Actress, and Popularity Awards. She is praised by the public for her success in her career at such young age.
